Bohm nominated for 2011 IGF Nuovo Award!
The Independent Games Festival (IGF), the prestigious GDC-held video game industry event highlighting and awarding the talents of independent game developers, has announced the finalists for the 2011 Nuovo Award, which honors "abstract, short-form, and unconventional game development" and Bohm was nominated!
Claynote composed music for Bohm and created an adaptive music system for this original and organic game that was developed by Monobanda.
In Bohm, the player controls the growth of a tree, controlling the slowly changing shape and size of the tree. Claynote composed and designed the soundtrack of this game to be able to "grow" along with the tree. As a result the music responds to the player's decisions, and will constantly change in a manner that suits the growth and shape of the tree.
The IGF Jury said the following about Bohm:
"Monobanda's reflective, zen-like tree-growing experience surprised the jury with the "audio/visual follow through" to its straightforward and ambitious concept, with one juror noting how quickly they became "immersed, despite my generally cynical attitude towards games that proclaim poetic beauty.""
We feel very honoured to have been nominated for this award, and we're happy and proud to be part of this original and unconventional project.
